Ideas for Corporate Birthday Gifts
Though many corporate gifts are given to
commemorate the signing of a contract or to win over potential clients, it
is not uncommon for corporate gifts to be a product of something in the
personal life of the recipient. One such example is when corporate gifts are
provided by the company for birthdays, either the birthday of an employee
within the workplace or the birthday of a client.
Birthday corporate gifts are a nice gesture from a
big company. They show those that receive them that you are paying attention
to the role they have with your company, and that their contributions are
not getting overlooked. Before you decide to get a corporate gift for an
employee birthday, make sure you have considered all of the following:
·
Originality – Try to make sure that the
gift you purchase does not look like something you purchased because you had
to, but rather because you want to. For example, wine makes a great
corporate gift, but if you are going to get wine for a birthday, make sure
you get a wine that is not readily available at a nearby grocery store
unless that wine was brought up in specific conversation with the employee.
·
Write Something Personal – Adding a
card to the birthday corporate gift is an effective strategy, but make sure
whatever written is something personal that the recipient will appreciate. A
card that simply has executive names scribbled on it recklessly is not going
to wow the recipient of this gift, especially on their birthday.
·
Consider Multiples – Gifts are always
better when more than one are provided at a time. Consider giving more than
one gift together to improve the impression of the gifts that you are
presenting. The subsequent gifts do not have to be as valuable to still
enhance the effect of the gift.
·
Spend if the Budget Allows – If the
company can afford to splurge a little on these gifts, a birthday is an
important time in the life of an individual, and a gift of decent to high
value is bound to be more impressive than one of little value. A high valued
gift card, for example, is going to be appreciated far more than a $10 gift
card to Starbucks, no matter how much the employee likes coffee.
Finally, if you cannot think of anything original
or cannot afford to purchase anything of value, consider doing nothing at
all. Birthdays are too important a time for some people for them to
appreciate minor gestures. If you cannot get a good birthday corporate gift,
consider saving the money and giving the employee a surprise gift of the
same value at some time in the future, when there is no anniversary and no
reason to believe the employee or client is expecting to receive a gift.
Gifts lose their impact when they are expected and of low value, but an
unexpected gift of low value is sure to get a smile from the recipient, and
a positive view of the company.
