Ideas for Gifts for Employee Reviews
Corporations have a responsibility to make sure
their employees feel appreciated. Unfortunately, many companies are unable
to live up to that responsibility. Various time commitments and management
techniques cause employees to feel as though they are not highly valued,
resulting in poorer work effort and a willingness to leave the company for
better options.
The goal of these companies should be to make sure
their employees feel happy and relaxed in their workplace, in order to boost
their overall productivity. One of the ways to do this is with corporate
gifts. These gifts show that the employee is cared for in the company,
because the company is willing to spend money on the employee with no
expectation of receiving anything greater back.
There is no better time to give a corporate gift
than at yearly employee reviews. Every year, employees are taken aside and
provided with both praise and criticism for their work at the company.
Interestingly, management often looks for something to criticize, because
giving an employee a rave review is considered dangerous for their ego.
Employees should always feel there is a reason to work harder, and to do so,
some criticism needs to be shared.
Unfortunately, a direct result of that criticism is
that the employee could feel personally offended by the advice. They may
feel as though the criticism exemplifies the company’s lack of appreciation
for their work. That is where corporate gifts can come in handy. By
providing the employee with a corporate gift, the company is able to show
the employee that it is dedicated to keeping them on staff. It will also
allow the employee to look forward to next year’s review, knowing that a
good review will net them some sort of item of value.
Corporate gifts for annual reviews do need to
follow a few basic rules:
·
Item should be something the employees
will like.
·
Item should be somewhat costly in order
to show real dedication.
·
If possible, items should be unique to
the employee (though this is not always possible).
·
Items with considerable cash value are
often appreciated.
Every employee will feel anxiety and fear when
their annual review comes around. But if they know that a good review is
often paired with an item of considerable value – a bonus, in a way, for
being an employee of your company – then the employee is unlikely to feel
their work is not appreciated. On the contrary, the employee will very
likely be glad they had the opportunity to work for the business all year,
and be pleased that the end result of the review showed that their job was
not in jeopardy, and their work at the organization was appreciated.
Providing corporate gifts to your employees is
simply one of the best ways to ensure that they leave the review knowing
their jobs are safe and their work at the company is valued. Though the cost
of providing these gifts may be slightly high, the productivity of happy
employees should greatly make up for the lost revenue.
